Utah Highway Patrol troopers suspect an elderly man experienced a medical incident prior to the crash that killed him on Highway 191 in Moab.

UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said investigators also were looking into the possibility that 92-year-old Bernard A. Broughton was talking on his cell phone shortly before his northbound Ford pickup truck plowed into a parked flatbed trailer about 11 a.m. Monday near 1100 South Main Street.

Broughton's pickup was seen drifting onto the right shoulder where it rolled after the collision, sideswiping another, unoccupied pickup truck parked near the trailer. Broughton's own vehicle landed on it side, partially ejecting him.

UHP said Broughton, who was not wearing a seat belt, was dead at the scene.
