Fun with photography • The Cottonwood Heights Arts Council is hosting a free photography class on Saturday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. Photographer Jacob Bruner will teach the two-hour session in Whitmore Library's auditorium, 2197 E. Fort Union Blvd., as preparation for the city's April photo contest, themed "A Spring Day in Cottonwood Heights."

Sprucing up the neighborhood • Spring has arrived and Wasatch Front Waste and Recyling, formerly called Salt Lake County Sanitation, is offering its annual residential cleanup between May 23 and June 12. What have you got to lose? • ABC's "Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition" invites residents who need to shed at least 50 percent of their body weight to participate in a casting call on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club, 968 E.
