A blaze, possibly fed by natural gas, damaged a Cache County home on Friday.
The fire started at a home near 7400 S. State Road 165, which is in an unincorporated part of Cache County between Hyrum and Paradise. Fire crews and Cache County sheriff’s deputies responded to the fire about 11:30 a.m.
According to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, two families occupied the house. Both were displaced.
Questar Gas got the call about the fire about 12:30 p.m., said spokesman Darren Shepherd.
A fire was burning near the gas meter in the carport area of the house, Shepherd said. As the fire burned away the meter, gas may have fed the flames, Shepherd added.
Questar shut off gas to the house and within two hours of the call, firefighters put out the flames. Most of the damage contained to the area around the carport, Shepherd said.
The fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire.
The sheriff’s office reported that the families had made alternate housing arrangements by late Friday.
