A woman in Brigham City who was walking with her grandchildren was killed after they were hit by a car Thursday afternoon.
Brigham City police Lt. Mike Nelsen said a collision between two vehicles at the intersection of 700 South and Main Street caused one car to come up onto a sidewalk, hitting the woman and her three grandchildren.
The 59-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Nelsen said that the children — a 7-year-old girl, a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy — also were struck but are expected to recover from their minor injuries.
The grandmother had just picked up the 7-year-old from school.
The driver of the car that hit them, an 87-year-old woman, also sustained minor injuries. Nelsen said the woman was making a left turn from Main Street onto 700 South when an oncoming driver on Main Street hit the woman's car, causing it to spin onto the sidewalk.
Nelsen said that police will hand the case over to the Brigham City Attorney's Office to determine whether any citations should be issued.
