A man's idea to use a scavenger hunt to ask a woman out prompted a bomb scare outside the LDS Temple in St. George.

St. George police said they were called to the temple at 250 E. 400 South, about 5:30 p.m. Saturday after someone found a suspicious package near a gazebo with the word "ARMY" written on the side.

The bomb squad was called as a precaution and surrounding streets closed.

While police were investigating, a man came forward and told police he had set up a treasure hunt for his girlfriend and the case contained candy and a note asking her to a dance.

Police confirmed the man's story.

No word on whether the woman agreed to go to the dance with the man.
