A Salem woman died Saturday night after police suspect her husband shot her during a domestic incident at their home.

Salem Police Chief Brad James said police responded to the couple's home in the area of 400 East and 300 South about 7 p.m. Saturday and found Teresa Scott, 47, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

While an autopsy is pending, James said Sunday that police believe Tracy Scott, 47, used a firearm to kill her. Scott remained in the Utah County Jail on Sunday on suspicion of murder.

James said the Scotts had a history of domestic violence dating back a number of years, but police hadn't been called there in the last few years.

The couple have two teenage sons, but James wasn't sure if they were home at the time of Teresa Scott's death.
