Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams signed an interlocal agreement Tuesday detailing the city’s and county’s partnership in the new $110 million downtown theater.

The 2,500-seat Utah Performing Arts Center in the 100 South block of Main Street will be co-owned by the city and county and operated by the county’s Center for the Arts, which also owns and operates Abravanel Hall, Capitol Theatre and Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

The theater’s design team of Pelli Clarke Pelli and HKS Architects will be unveiling its schematic design on April 17. Construction is slated to begin in 2014 and be completed in 2016.
