Canyons Resort will kick off its sixth annual Spring Grüv celebration Saturday in typical fashion — with a pond skimming contest at noon at the Red Pine Lodge.

To the amusement of a sizable crowd watching from an outdoor barbeque or a beer garden, about 100 "daredevils" will try to ski or snowboard across an icy pond, said resort spokeswoman Caitlin Martz.

Concerts continue Sunday with a show by Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band. The next weekend, Toots & The Maytals will play on Saturday and Eufórquestra on Sunday. All concerts are free and start at 3 p.m.

Other activities include a French champagne tasting, a celebrity ski challenge to support "Operation Smile" and an Easter dinner.
