A fight between two Milford men ended in a prolonged standoff between one of them and the Beaver County SWAT team.

The Sheriff's Office said Monday that no injuries were reported, but it took tear gas to bring the standoff to a conclusion after four hours of negotiations failed to persuade the 24-year-old suspect to surrender about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

A 911 call reported two men fighting outside the home near 800 South and 100 West shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday. When police officers arrived, the 24-year-old man had gone inside a house and refused officers' demands that he come out.

Finally, SWAT officers fired at least two tear gas canisters into the home and then forced entry, taking the suspect into custody without further incident.

The man was taken to Beaver County Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of assault and threatening with a firearm. Bail was not immediately set.
