The Unified Police Department now has a photograph of the getaway car used in the alleged theft of a cash box from a troop of Girl Scouts selling cookies in front of a Taylorsville Walmart.
The scouts were robbed Saturday by a man posing as a customer.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the man got out of a car in the store parking lot, 5469 S. Redwood Road (1700 West) about 4 p.m. and inquired about the cookies. After talking to the scouts, the man grabbed a cash box sitting on the cookie table and jumped back in the car, which sped away.
The car was a two-door Chevy Cavalier which is teal or green in color. The car’s wheels have factory rims. Police obtained the picture of the car from video taken by a Walmart surveillance camera about the time of the theft, police said in a news release.
The man is described as a white man in his 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds. Hoyal said the man also has a shaved head and a tattoo which covers most of his left arm.
The driver of the car was described as a slim, blond-haired woman.
Hoyal said anyone selling cookies or other goods should remember to keep the cash box out of sight and only leave small amounts of cash inside.
