Draper police arrested two people Monday after they allegedly hid razor blades inside doughnuts and ate them in the hope they could claim an injury settlement from the grocery store where they were purchased.
The 39-year-old woman and 35-year-old man purchased the doughnuts at a Smith’s store in Draper, according to a police department news release. They allegedly inserted broken razor blades into the pastries and ate them. They also gave a razor-laced doughnut to a co-worker who was unaware of the scheme and discovered the metal after taking a bite.

No one was injured, including the suspects, who actually swallowed pieces of the blades, according to Draper Sgt. Chad Carpenter.
The man and woman were booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of filing a false police report and aggravated assault of the co-worker.
