A two-vehicle crash Monday morning in St. George swept up a man and a woman nearby, sending both of them to the hospital, one in critical condition.
St. George police Officer Derek Lewis said the accident occurred at 9:09 a.m. near Sunbrook Drive and Dixie Drive. One of the pedestrians was flown to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition while the other was taken to the same hospital by ground ambulance in serious condition.

Lewis was not immediately certain which of the victims was in critical condition, saying details were developing as the investigation got under way.
The accident occurred when a Toyota Celica traveling southbound on Dixie Drive rear-ended a Subaru, causing that vehicle to careen off the right side and striking the man and woman, who were on a sidewalk.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries that were treated at the scene.
No citations were issued, but investigators reportedly were looking into whether the Toyota’s driver may have been distracted at the time of a crash, possibly by a cellphone.
