Three officers arrived a home and were attacked by a German shepherd mix, according to police Lt. Will Cragun. One of three officers opened fire, striking and killing the dog.
The officer attacked by the dog did not suffer any serious injuries.
Police did not report finding the purported gun-wielding man who prompted the original call.
