A Salt Lake City woman was discovered dead from an apparent drowning in her bathtub late Friday.

Police and firefighters went to the 25-year-old woman’s apartment, 555 S. 200 East, about 10 p.m. after a 911 call, Salt Lake City police Lt. James Tracy said.

The woman was found in the tub with the water running. She was last seen by someone who knew her at about 11 a.m. Friday, Tracy said.

Investigators believe the woman slipped and fell, hitting her head and landing in the tub as the water continued to run and eventually covered her face, Tracy said.

No one else was in the apartment. It wasn’t clear Friday how long the water may have been running.

The woman’s name was not immediately released.

An investigation was ongoing.
