Police have identified the victim of an auto-pedestrian accident in Ogden Monday night as a 50-year-old homeless man.
Ogden police Lt. Chad Ledford said Daniel Thobe was struck and killed by a southbound vehicle while crossing from east to west near the 26th Street intersection with Wall Street. There is no crosswalk there.

Thobe, who is believed to have been living at the nearby St. Anne’s homeless shelter, was dead at the scene.
The 22-year-old male driver, also of Ogden, stopped at the scene. He was not immediately cited. The investigation was ongoing Tuesday, Ledford said.
The same area was the scene of another fatal auto-pedestrian accident on Christmas Eve. A 56-year-old man died in that incident.
After the December accident, the Utah Department of Transportation requested a study of that section of Wall Avenue to determine whether it needs a crosswalk or street light. The researchers will see measure much vehicle and pedestrian traffic the section gets, said UDOT spokesman Vic Saunders.
Saunders was not sure if the study had been done. The researchers are supposed to conduct the study at an unannounced time so that people can’t try to influence it, he said.
"We’ll keep looking at everything we can do [to reach] zero fatalities," Saunders said. "We want to reach the point where no one is getting injured or killed."
