Two people have been arrested for operating a phone idenfication card mill out of their Sandy-area home.
The 38-year-old man and 41-year old woman were arrested at a residence in White City on Monday by the SECURE Strike Force, which operates out of the Utah Attorney General’s Office.
The pair is accused of possessing identifcation cars and checks belonging to other people and using those materials to produce fake ID cards and checks, the Attorney General’s Office said in a news release.
The office also filed formal criminal charges of drug distribution, identity fraud and theft against the pair. The charges include two first-degree felonies, one second-degree felony , seven third-degree felonies and one misidemeanor.
Documents filed in Salt Lake City’s 3rd District Court say agents seized a computer with scanned images of 28 lawfully issued identification cards and a handwritten checklist on forgery. They also found personal information was being use to make fradulent driver’s licenses, check stubs and bank checks.
