Park City • Repair crews have replaced a failed water line that spilled nearly 500,000 gallons along one of this mountain community’s primary arterials.
The failure came on Sunday, Feb. 17, but took until last Wednesday to fix. While repairs were made to the 10-inch line, Park City waterworks officials ordered a section of Marsac Avenue for several hours.

The break occurred along Royal Street just downhill from Stein Eriksen Lodge entrance. The line is 10 inches in diameter. McAffee said it appears the break was caused by a cycle of freezes and thaws.
The repair crew dug out the damaged section of the water line and replaced it with an approximately 10-foot-long new section, the Park Record reported.
Damage estimates were pending.
