Sunday marked the lull between snowstorms for Utahns.

The next winter storm is expected to blow into the state on Monday night, bringing an 80 percent chance of snow and accumulations of up 3 inches in the Salt Lake Valley, the National Weather Service predicted.

Snow is expected to continue to fall into Tuesday morning, although the forecast calls for less than an inch of additional accumulation.

Come Wednesday, skies are expected to clear, with sunshine expected to dominate the rest of the week.

For skiers looking for fresh powder, Saturday’s snowstorm was good news. Snowbasin picked up 20 inches; Brighton, 18; Alta, 16; and Powder Mountain reported a foot of new snow.

But the Utah Avalanche Center on Sunday warned backcountry enthusiasts to use caution. Avalanche danger was rated considerable for the Logan, Uinta, Moab and Skyline ranges, with a moderate-danger rating for the Odgen, Salt Lake and Provo ranges.
