Water from a broken fire hydrant damaged two Salt Lake City homes on Saturday.
At about 11:30 a.m., the Salt Lake City Fire Department got a report of a hydrant gushing water near 2100 South and 2100 East. A crew arrived to find two nearby homes had suffered water damage, said SLCFD spokeswoman Jasen Asay.

One home suffered moderate damage from about 6 inches of water that flooded inside, and another had minor damage from water seeping in through the walls, Asay said. Estimates for the cost of repairing the damage were not immediately available.
Firefighters called the city water department to shut off the hydrant and a disaster cleanup crew to help sort out the mess. It appeared that a broken water main was the cause of the problem, Asay said.
