A 41-year-old man was charged Tuesday with kidnapping and sexually assaulting an Ogden woman who climbed into his car.
Ogden police Lt. Chad Ledford said the 30-year-old victim was at her uncle’s house on Sunday when she encountered Percy L. Wilder, of South Ogden, who was a stranger to her.

When she walked outside the home, near the 200 block of 30th Street, Wilder followed her and she got inside his car, Ledford said.
He then drove off with her. She asked him to stop, but he refused and started fondling her, Ledford said. He also threatened to cut her if she didn’t do what he wanted, police said.
When the vehicle stopped near the 200 block of 28th Street, Ledford said the woman jumped out and ran to a nearby apartment complex and started pounding on a door and screaming for help.
Ledford said Wilder gave chase, grabbed her by her hair and started dragging her back the vehicle. When the woman kept screaming, Wilder punched her in the face, Ledford said.
Two bystanders came to her aid and Wilder fled.
Wilder was charged in 2nd District Court with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault, both first-degree felonies.
The Sunday arrest isn’t Wilder’s first brush with the law. He has served prison time for attempted rape of a child, aggravated assault, possession/use of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of alcohol, driving under the influence, among other convictions.
Wilder served up to a 15 year sentence for the attempted rape conviction, until he was paroled in April 2011, prison records show.
