A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was hit by a car and injured Friday while investigating a crash on Interstate 70 in Sevier County’s Clear Creek Canyon.
The trooper was sitting inside his patrol car just before 5 p.m. when a driver lost control of his vehicle on slick, snow-covered roads and slammed into the rear of the police vehicle, UHP said in a news release.

Both the trooper and the driver suffered minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to a hospital in Richfield.
An initial investigation indicates the driver of the car may have been traveling at a speed too fast for the road conditions, the UHP said. The crash remains under investigation by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office.
