A Bountiful man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly engaging in long-term sexual abuse of an underage girl who played on his soccer team, beginning when the girl was 13 years old.
Steve Dale Green was arrested by Bountiful police on suspicion of multiple sex crimes, all first-degree felonies. According to a probable cause affidavit, Green allegedly began having sex with a 13-year-old player on his soccer team in 2007. Green was a friend of the girl’s family, and most of the encounters occurred at Green’s house, happening "almost every day" between 2008 and 2011, according to the affidavit. The alleged crimes lasted until 2011 when the girl was 17.

Police arrested Green on Wednesday morning at the South Davis Recreation Center, according to jail records. Bountiful Assistant Police Chief Ed Biehler said Green was at the center to work out, and he did not believe Green worked as a soccer coach for the center, which hosts youth soccer leagues in the spring.
Green was booked into the Davis County Jail on suspicion of rape of a child, sodomy upon a child, aggravated sexual abuse of a child, rape, sodomy and forcible sexual abuse.
Detectives believe Green may still be a coach, but they were unsure with what team or league he may be affiliated, Biehler said. Details about Green’s status as a coach were scarce Wednesday because Green refused to answer investigators’ questions.
Biehler encouraged any other potential victims to contact Bountiful police at 801-298-6000.
