Valentine’s Day approaches and romance is in the air — but more in some cities than in others.
Salt Lake City has been named one of the least romantic cities by Foursquare, a location-based social networking site that enables mobile device users to check in at various locations to earn points.

In a news release, Foursquare said it looked at 3 billion check-ins to determine the cities with the most and least check-ins at romantic places.
Based on check-ins, Foursquare named San Francisco the most romantic city, followed by New Orleans; New York City; Savannah, Ga.; Honolulu; Portland, Ore.; Harrisburg, Pa.; Seattle; Charleston, S.C.; and Denver.
Trenton, N.J., is least romantic based on check-ins, followed by Akron, Ohio; Virginia Beach, Va.; Springfield, Mo.; El Paso, Texas; Raleigh, N.C.; Salt Lake City; Greenville, S.C.; Lansing, Mich.; and Tucson, Ariz.
Foursquare used the same analysis to conclude that flower shops nationwide are the most popular spot for last-minute Valentine’s Day shoppers. (3 p.m. is the busiest time.) In addition, French restaurants are the most popular place to take your dates.
