A Salt Lake City International Airport driver remained in critical condition Monday, the day after his truck collided with the wing of a parked cargo plane and caused a fuel leak.
Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann identified the driver as Senituli Loamanu, 19. She said the collision about 6:20 p.m. Sunday sent an unspecified amount of fuel spewing from the wing’s tanks onto the tarmac on the airport’s east side. Airport hazardous materials workers labored well into the evening cleaning up the mess.

Gann said the accident is under investigation and weather will be part of that analysis, however, it doesn’t appear that fog was a factor.
Damage estimates had not yet been assessed, she added.
Loamanu was injured when part of the aircraft’s wing broke through his truck’s windshield and struck him.
He was taken by ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, where he remained on Monday, according to hospital spokesman Jess Gomez.
