A high speed chase on Interstate 15 ended in a crash Saturday when the driver of a motor home attempted to escape police by exiting the freeway and collided with a vehicle at the bottom of an off-ramp.
The chase began in Davis County when a sheriff’s deputy tried to stop the RV’s driver for a traffic violation. The driver didn’t stop and instead hit the gas and drove into Salt Lake County, Utah Highway Patrol spokeswoman Jalaine Hawkes said.

UHP troopers put spikes down on the 5300 South off-ramp, where the motor home left the freeway and began to slow down. The driver missed the spikes, but crashed into a car at the end of the ramp, Hawkes said.
The driver, a man thought to be in his 20s, then refused to exit the motor home. A police dog was sent into the RV, and a Taser had to be used to subdue the driver, Hawkes said.
Paramedics were at the scene checking the driver’s condition, she said. No one else was injured in the crash, she said.
