Salt Lake City International Airport back to normal winter operations

Wednesday morning’s steady and heavy snowfall caused problems for Salt Lake City International Airport early Wednesday, but traffic returned to normal by mid-morning.

Airport Operations Director Dave Korzep said no flights were cancelled, but a number of flights were delayed.

"We had our snow-removal crews out all morning and that has led to intermittent runway closures that have slowed things down, along with [the need to] de-ice the wings of planes themselves," he said.

By 10:45 a.m., however, airport officials reported normal air traffic had resumed as the storm was beginning to taper off.

"We’re back to normal winter operations now," airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann said.
