Acting on a tip, Salt Lake City police arrested a suspect in last week's holdup of a Granite Credit Union branch.

Detective Veronica Montoya said the 28-year-old man was arrested at a restaurant in South Salt Lake about 3:45 p.m. Monday and then turned over to Salt Lake City police.

Police had been told where to find the suspect by an acquaintance.

He had been sought in the robbery of the credit union's branch office at 1283 E. Zenith Ave. on Thursday.

Police said a man wearing a brown coat and pants, boots and dark oversized eyeglasses, walked into the credit union about 4 p.m. Thursday. He demanded cash and fled on foot after receiving an unspecified amount of money.
