A bus carrying children to an elementary school in Box Elder County collided head-on with a farm truck on a snow-covered road Friday morning, injuring three children.

The accident occurred in an unincorporated area near Corinne — a town of several hundred people — when the school bus filled with 30 children collided with the two-ton farm truck, according to Box Elder Sheriff's Chief Deputy Kevin Potter.

A boy and a girl reportedly suffered head and neck injuries and were taken to Brigham Community Hospital. Another girl was taken to Bear River Valley Hospital with an arm injury.

The remaining children were treated at the scene then taken to a nearby home to await their parents or a second bus to Century Elementary School.

"You could tell by the looks on their faces they were all scared to death," Potter added.

Potter said the bus and the truck were traveling below the speed limit near the center of the two-lane road. Heavy fog and snow made it impossible to see lane markings and by the time the two drivers saw each other they didn't have time to stop. Potter also said the damage to both vehicles was substantial.

"It wasn't just a fender-bender," he said.
