A man who got into a shootout with Davis County sheriff's deputies in Farmington after allegedly firing a gun at other drivers on the Legacy Parkway last week was charged Wednesday for two similar gun incidents in Salt Lake County that same day.
According to the charges, Marco Guizar, a 37-year-old Taylorsville resident, pulled up next to a woman waiting in her vehicle at a stop sign at 4100 South and 6400 West on Jan. 16 and pointed a handgun at her while her 7-year-old and 11-month-old were in the vehicle. The woman drove away and was not injured. Later, another man also reported to police that Guizar pointed a gun at him while driving east on Lake Park Boulevard. Guizar did not fire the gun in that incident either.
Then on Legacy Parkway, Guizar allegedly fired the gun at someone driving a pickup. No one was injured. Witnesses called 911, and Guizar was met by two Davis County sheriff's deputies in their cruisers when he exited into Farmington. Guizar allegedly led the deputies on a chase through town that ended near 650 West State St. Guizar and a Farmington police detective exchanged fire before he was arrested. No one was injured. In all three of the incidents reported that day, Guizar was allegedly driving the same car – a silver Toyota Camry with Texas plates. Investigators later determined that the car was a rental.
Guizar has already been charged in Davis County for the Legacy Parkway incident. He was held without bond in the Davis County Jail on charges of first-degree felony aggravated attempted murder; three counts of second-degree felony aggravated assault; third-degree felony failure to stop for police; and misdemeanor counts of possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to assault, and interference with an arresting officer.
The new filing in Salt Lake County adds two third-degree felony counts of aggravated assault to the charges against Guizar.
