Timpanogos Cave National Monument is inviting public comment on a proposal to join an online reservation system for its summer cave tours.

Demands for cave tours exceeds capacity during summer weekends and holidays and is close to capacity on weekdays. In response, the monument is considering joining the National Recreation Reservation System, which would allow online reservations and expanded telephone sales for visitors planning a trip to the park, for a $3 service fee per ticket.

Park rangers currently sell advance tickets over the phone, but the demand has overwhelmed staff. Depending on public response to the online reservation proposal, it could be implemented as early as the summer of 2014.

Written comments may be submitted online at parkplanning.nps.gov/tica, or may be mailed to Superintendent, Timpanogos Cave National Monument, R.R. 3 Box 200, American Fork, UT 84003. Groups or organizations that would like to meet in person should call Chief Ranger Mike Gosse at 801-756-5239 ext. 201 to make arrangements.

All comments received on or before March 1 will be considered before a final proposal is developed.
