Salt Lake City police and firefighters Wednesday morning retrieved an injured driver from the wreckage of his car after the vehicle flipped over a barrier wall.

The 9:21 a.m. accident occurred on a curve on 400 South near 1100 East, dispatchers confirmed.

The man was initially listed in fair condition, and was conscious and alert but experiencing difficulty breathing, police said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately determined, but it did occur on a curve in smoggy and icy conditions.
