Under the sea • Sandy Arts Guild is holding auditions for "Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr." on Jan. 24, 25 from 7-9 p.m. at Sandy Parks and Recreation, located 440 E. 8680 South. Auditions are for age 5-18. For more information contact Karla Marsden at kmarsden@sandy.utah.gov or call 801-568-6068.

Here comes the bride • It's that season for engagements and proposals and brides for a spring wedding to start planning. Snowball Softball • "Hey, batter batter," swing by the Bicentennial Park at 530 E. 8680 South and 9020 S. Quarry Bend Parkway from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 25, 26 for the 28th Annual Men's Snow Softball Tournament.


Square off in the Shire • Hey teens! Think you know J.R.R. Tolkein's Hobbit better than anyone? Come to Draper's Library (136 East Pioneer Rd.) to a Hobbit trivia contest. Winners will receive a Barnes and Noble gift certificate. Teens age 11-18 are invited to show off their knowledge. The trivia goes all day beginning at 8 a.m. from Jan. 25, 26.
