Rescue workers Tuesday recovered the body of a lightly clad man found late Monday night atop Mount Ogden peak by Snowbasin Ski Patrol members.

Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Lowther said Tuesday that the remains of a man estimated to be in his 20s or 30s were located near the peak's antenna towers site. The weather was deemed too severe to recover the body Monday night.

Efforts were just beginning to identify the man, Lowther said.

"He wasn't dressed for the conditions or for winter recreation," he said, describing the man's attire as including a light sweater, jacket and loafers.

Neither skis nor a snowmobile were found nearby. "We have no idea how he got there," Lowther said.

Mountain rescue personnel, assisted by helicopters, retrieved the body. The remains were turned over to the state Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

Lowther said there were no obvious signs of foul play or physical indicators of the cause of death. It also was uncertain how long the man's body may have been on the peak.

Low temperatures on the mountain recently have been in the teens with a chill factor dropping the "feels like" temperature to near zero, according to the National Weather Service.

Lowther asked that anyone who may have information on this case call Weber County Sheriff's Office at 801-778-6600.
