A New Jersey man was pronounced dead at Park City Mountain Resort after hitting a tree on the Silver King ski run.
Park City police Capt. Phil Kirk said William Kivet, 67, was skiing down a black diamond run for advanced skiers when he struck the tree.

The 11:30 a.m. Monday accident was witnessed by a friend of the victim, Kirk said.
Kivet had intentionally left the groomed trail and skied into a forested area, Kirk said. Ski patrol personnel transported the victim to the base of the mountain where doctors declared he had died.
