To help Salt Lake Valley residents get over inversion depression, Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort is offering discounted lift tickets on bad-air days.
"Although you can't see it from the valley, the skies are blue and the sun is shining at Snowbird during most inversions," Dave Fields, Snowbird vice president of resort operations, said Thursday in announcing the $20 discount. "We're calling it the 'Blue Bird' discount to remind locals that the air is clear at Snowbird."
Using its Facebook page, http://www.Facebook.com/SnowbirdUT, and its Twitter page, http://www.Twitter.com/Snowbird, the resort will announce the discount by 5 p.m. on the day before it is available. The next morning, guests may request the "Blue Bird discount" at any Snowbird ticket window to get $20 off an $85 adult all-day ticket or $10 off a $42 child's all-day pass.
Fields said $10 discounts also are being offered on Blue Bird days for ski and snowboard rentals at Creekside Sports. That will require renters to have a printed copy of a coupon available at http://www.snowbird.com/winter/rentals/creekside/.
