A 45-year-old Salt Lake County woman remained in critical condition Wednesday, the day after she crashed into the rear of a semitrailer.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the crash occurred about 6 p.m. Tuesday on northbound Bangerter Highway at the intersection with California Avenue. The semi was stopped at a traffic signal when it was struck.

Johnson said troopers were investigating whether the woman may have been impaired by prescription drugs at the time of the crash, which closed down northbound traffic for about 90 minutes at the height of the evening commute.
The semi’s driver was uninjured.
