McEntee: My mistake, my apology
As a newspaper columnist, I can and do dish out criticism. Now I've got to take it.
In a Tribune online column that appeared on Monday, I made a big mistake I found what I thought was Gov. Gary Herbert's inaugural speech on the Web. It turned out to be the text of his 2011 inaugural address. A fellow reporter caught the mistake before the column ran in Tuesday's paper, but it did appear online and with a prominent sentence detailing the error. In other words, my column was effectively spiked by editors, as it should have been.
I have apologized to the governor and now I apologize to my readers. I'll do my best to make sure nothing like it happens again.
