Murray police are looking for a couple suspected of holding up a local restaurant, firing a gun at a police officer and stealing a getaway car.
No one was injured. Witnesses said a man in dark clothing holding a gun entered Scaddy’s, 5430 S. 900 East, just after 6 p.m. Saturday and demanded money from a clerk, Murray police Lt. Tim Martin said.

The man fled on foot, but was spotted by a police officer about 20 minutes later outside a Family Dollar store at 6160 S. 1300 East. When the officer pulled into the store parking lot, the man ran south on 1300 East, Martin said.
The officer chased the man into a nearby neighborhood, where a woman was waiting for him in a vehicle. As the man approached the car, he turned and fired his gun at the lone officer, who returned fire, Martin said. Neither man was injured, but one bullet did strike the getaway car, he said.
The couple fled on foot down the street and into an open garage, where they stole a 2010 Dodge Caliber from the resident and drove away.
Based on witness reports, the man is believed to be in his early 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build, Martin said. The woman is in her 30s, also thin and was wearing a long dark coat.
Anyone with information is asked to call Murray police at (801)-264-2673.
