A longtime fifth-grade teacher in the Juab School District has been accused of sexually assaulting one of his former students.
Prosecutors on Wednesday charged Hadley D. Christensen, 38, of Nephi, with one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, in 4th District Court.
Hadley allegedly invited an 11-year-old girl, whom he taught the year before, to his home on Dec. 22 and sexually assaulted her during the night, according to charging documents.
Juab School District Superintendent Jim Shank said Christensen has been suspended from his job at Red Cliffs Elementary School pending the outcome of an investigation into the incident.
He said he is not aware of any other victims who have come forward to report similar allegations against Christensen, who has worked for the district for 11 years.
If convicted, Christensen could face up to life in prison.
