A Utah Highway Patrol trooper had been released from the hospital and was on medical leave Wednesday, two days after being struck by a car at an accident scene on Interstate 15 in Midvale.
UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said Trooper Brent Shelby was "still pretty sore" and doctors were concerned about a knee injury, but otherwise is expected to fully recover.

Shelby was setting out flares at a crash scene on the left shoulder of I-15 at 7600 South at 6:38 p.m. on Christmas Eve when an approaching Jeep lost control, slid into the wall and hit him.
He was able to hobble on his own to an ambulance. He initially complained of head, neck, leg and back pain.
The incident was being investigated on UHP’s behalf by the Unified Police Department. No citations were immediately issued.
