Ogden police are searching for the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian on Christmas Eve.

A man and his wife were crossing Wall Avenue at 26th Street at 6:40 p.m. Monday. The 56-year-old husband was struck "and thrown over a 100 feet," said Lt. Chad Leford. He later died at a local hospital.

"The suspect vehicle stopped for a brief moment, and then continued southbound. We are still looking for the driver," Ledford said on Tuesday.

He said police are seeking a dark, mid-sized car "that should have some front-end damage, and it might be missing a windshield wiper."

Ledford encouraged anyone with information about the car or driver to call Ogden Police at 801-395-8221.

Ledford said police are still trying to contact other relatives before releasing the name of the victim.
