A 6-year-old boy was killed in a sleigh riding accident in Fairview Canyon on Saturday, sheriff's office officials said.

More specific details about the accident, including the time it occurred, a specific location and the boy's name were not released. The Sanpete County Sheriff's Office announced the news in a tweet issued at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday.

A dispatcher told The Salt Lake Tribune that the boy's family had asked that no further details about the accident be released.

A telephone message left for a sheriff's public information officer was not immediately returned Saturday night.
