A fifth person has been charged in connection to an August murder in Midvale, though the latest defendant isn't accused of participating in the killing.

Abegail Jennings, 35, was charged Thursday with conspiracy to commit burglary in state court. In August, Jennings was helping the victim — 31-year-old Justen LeFave — sell marijuana, court papers say. Jennings told police that one day, Gabriel Samson Gurule asked her to help him steal some of the drugs from LeFave.

"Jennings said the plan was for her to go stay with LeFave and once he fell asleep, she was text Gurule on a phone he provided her" and that she would let him into the apartment, according to the charges. On Aug. 23, she stayed at LeFave's apartment near 7000 S. State St. and they ended up talking through the night.

Eventually she called Gurule to pick her up, and when he asked her why she didn't contact him, she said LeFave never fell asleep, the charges add.

Three days later, attorneys charged Gurule with showing up at LeFave's door and shooting him in the neck in an attempt to rob him.

Gurule, 35, faces first-degree felony counts of murder, aggravated robbery and obstructing justice. Anthony Daniel Martinez, 30, has been charged with the same felony counts for allegedly plotting the crime, acting as a getaway driver and helping to get rid of the weapon.

Two women, 25-year-old Alexis Kelley Hughes and 35-year-old Amy Virginia Rowley, have also been charged with first-degree felony murder and aggravated robbery. They're suspected of knocking at his front door and asking him for directions to another building, when Gurule stepped up from behind them and fired.

After the shooting, all four fled the area, according to court documents. The group cleaned the gun and Martinez and Hughes allegedly dumped the weapon in Millcreek Canyon.
