Cedar City police are investigating the nonfatal Sunday-night shooting by an Enoch city law enforcement officer of a knife-wielding man.

Cedar City police Lt. Darin Adams said Enoch police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 5100 block of North Enoch Road at 7:34 p.m. Sunday on a domestic disturbance report between a mother and her adult son.

"Upon arrival, officers were confronted by the male suspect, a 19-year-old resident of the home. The suspect was in possession of two knives and was noncompliant with officers," Adams said.

The man physically resisted efforts to subdue him, including deployment of a Taser, and when he advanced on officers armed with his knives one of the officers fired a single round into his knee.

The man was undergoing medical treatment for the wound Monday and will be arrested and booked into Iron County Jail upon his release from the hospital.

Adams, noting the investigation was ongoing, did not release any further details about the incident.
