Finally, here comes some serious snowfall for Utah.
The National Weather Service began Friday by issuing winter weather advisories for the Wasatch Mountains south of Interstate 80, the state’s southern mountains and southeastern Utah’s Moab area.

The northern Utah portion of that wintry weather alert was to run through Saturday evening, bringing up to 9 inches of snow by late Friday night and another 8 inches by 11 p.m. Saturday. Valley locations were expecting an inch or two.
The southern mountains, meanwhile, were predicted to see about 6 inches of snowfall before noon Saturday. The southeastern corner of the state expected 1-2 inches.
The Utah Avalanche Center predicted risks for dangerous snowslides would be "considerable" on Saturday for the mountains near Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo.
The Utah Division of Air Quality was raising "green," or healthy air quality banners statewide for Saturday.
Salt Lake City’s high temperature Saturday was pegged at 38, down from Friday’s forecast for 42 degrees; Ogden expected 36 and 43 degrees, respectively; Provo 40 and 44; Logan 37 and 41; Wendover 37 and 40; Duchesne 39 and 40; Cedar City 38 and 42; St. George 48 and 52; and Moab 42 and 43 degrees.
