A South Salt Lake woman allegedly stabbed by her teenage daughter this week remained in critical condition Thursday, but she has been stabilized and is expected to recover, police said.
Meanwhile, the 16-year-old girl — accused of attacking her mother during a dispute over homework — has been booked into a juvenile detention facility on suspicion of attempted homicide, according to South Salt Lake police Officer Gary Keller.
The girl had initially been booked on suspicion of the lesser charge of aggravated assault in the attack Tuesday on her 40-year-old mother.
The stabbing occurred just before 3 p.m. at the home the mother and daughter shared near 300 East and Lambourne Avenue (3155 South). The mother was stabbed multiple times in her upper body with a large kitchen knife.
Because the girl is a minor, police are not releasing her name.
