A grandmother’s talk about the birds and bees with her young grandchildren led to her allegedly assaulting the children’s mom.
The 44-year-old grandmother was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with assault and three counts of commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, all class-A misdemeanors.

On Nov. 23, the mother walked in to find the grandmother discussing sexual education with her grandchildren, ages 2, 5 and 7, and had given them condoms, according to the charges. The mother disapproved.
The two got into a fight and the grandmother started pushing the mother several times in her shoulders to force her into a bedroom, in order to lock her in, the charges add.
An officer arrived and the two older children told him the same story, according to police.
