St. George • A 31-year-old former St. George police officer who’s already been sentenced for a pharmacy robbery in Nevada has pleaded guilty to two other robberies in Utah.
The Spectrum reports that Maxwell Tyler Houghton took a plea deal Tuesday that drops charges in two robberies and reduces the severity of the felony charges against him.

Police arrested Houghton last October, after authorities say he held up a Lin’s pharmacy in Overton, Nev., and fled with painkillers. He was then linked to several pharmacy robberies in Nevada and Utah.
Houghton was sentenced earlier this year to 10 to 23 years in Nevada prison, and Utah prosecutors didn’t seek additional prison time.
The Spectrum reports Houghton said he was addicted to painkillers after a back injury.
