Recounts on two school board races in Salt Lake County verified that candidates leading on election night were the winners.

County Clerk SherrieSwensen said Tuesday her office's recount of the vote for the Salt Lake City School Board seat from District 1bumped the three-vote margin Tiffany Sandberg had over Amanda Thorderson to five votes.

In the race for the District 10 position on the State School Board, Dave Crandall increased his edge over Nina Marie Welker by three votes, up to 150 out of more than 62,000 ballots cast.

Swensen told the County Council, acting as the Board of Canvassers, that recount numbers were "very accurate." In an audit of 5 percent of the tabulations from electronic voting machines, she noted, comparisons of recount numbers to the election-night printouts "was spot on."
