Police say that a stray bullet fired by a man shooting at several people outside of a West Valley City restaurant nearly hit an infant in the bedroom of a nearby home.
The man on Saturday fired six shots at a car in the parking lot of the Mariscos De Las Islitas, 3010 W. 3500 South.
The car, occupied by three people, was hit by four bullets but no one was injured, according to a probable cause statement filed by police at the Salt Lake County jail.
A stray round, however, entered a residence, traveled through a bedroom and nearly struck an infant, police said.
After the alleged shooter was arrested Sunday, he admitted being at the restaurant, but denied shooting at anyone.
Two of the alleged victims, however, identified him in a photo line-up, according to the probable cause statement. One of the alleged victims claimed the man punched him in the restaurant's rest room
The man was booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder, discharge of a firearm, criminal mischief, possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and assault.
